WHAT TYPE OF BASE IS SUITABLE FOR A STAINLESS STEEL TANK

Your base must be sound.  We always recommend a concrete base, which will give premium long lasting results.  However, it must be noted that Slimline Tanks 680 and 880 mm wide must sit on a concrete base or pavers.

Round and the Jumbo series (1.2 metre wide) tanks can sit on a base of fine blue crusher dust or sand.   The base must be well compacted and a weed mat or similar placed between the base and the tank to ensure the tank is not pierced.   It is also recommended that the area be surrounded by sleepers or something similar to alleviate the possibility of the dust being washed away.  It is important that the overflow be plumbed to prevent the water undermining the base.

If you want to put your tank on a stand there are a few things to consider.  Firstly, consider the weight of the water in the tank.  A 5000 litre tank holds 5 tons of water.  Your stand must be capable of carrying this weight and comply with the appropriate Australian Standards.
